| Summer is here..... I think?? |
Hi everyone,
Well let’s look at what’s been happening over the last few weeks,
We have now started potting for hermit crabs, and there are a few Mackerel starting to show now, not too may, but a few, this will increase as the weeks go on, but as we know most things are late due to the cold onslaught of the weather we had in winter, but things are on the up & up now,
There are one or two better Smoothound to be had now, and there has been an amazing show of Bass, on some days, with Rag or Lug worm, we have had 35 and 40 Bass per day as you will know if you were lucky enough to be on those trips eh boys!!!. One of my customers Joe,( he is a lad) and takes as much stick as he gives, was one of the lucky parties to bag up on Bass last week and the weather did hold up nicely for a while didn’t it?, then we get plunged back into cold air from the North East again just as things got going…… Bahhh!!.
We have had a new 28 foot Arvor come into our marina this week, and a very nice young man called Mark is the proud owner, and I must say, it is a lovely craft, he handles it well, and is fully conscious of safety at sea and has even had AIS fitted to his boat… Good on you Mark I truly hope you have some great fishing this year and stay safe out there……. (Still not telling you where the Bass are though!!!!) No seriously its people like Mark that give the small boat operators a good name… well done mate.
There! Who says I don’t like Arvors?? I like them on the sea bed 60 foot down… coz deep down there nice boats…………
No, only joking with you, they are fine craft and used sensibly one of the best small craft on the water today I would think.
Back to Fishing…….. We start our Tope trips next week, so all eyes to the East, looking for those hungry predators that fight like the demons of the sea they are. We should have had our first trip yesterday (Sunday) but the weather took care of that, so we went Roker fishing, we are just so lucky we have sheltered waters in the River Blackwater, and even when the wind blows to 25 to 30 mph we can still turn in a good days fishing.
There were three boats out yesterday from our river, my boat Cacheflow, Daphnie Carole, and Sophie Lee, we were all with in a mile or so of each other and all caught Thornback’s into double figures, and some Bass, and Smoothound to go with them, and basically got a day out of nothing, and that’s what you can do when you have a productive river like the Blackwater!!. One of my chaps got an early Stingray last week from the river, a nice
36 pounder, how was that for his first ever boat trip??
There are still some dates that want filling, but they are getting fewer now as the time rolls on, so if you fancy a good days fishing, please call 07768306646 to get on a trip, you don’t have to have a party, you can just book on your own as an individual, or two or three of you to make up a party, just give me a call and we will sort you out, we are just about to come in to some real good fishing time now, and if the weather holds up for us…… ding dong!! We should have a fish bonanza!!.
Phil White has joined the fleet of professional charter boats from Bradwell now, with his own new Offshore 25, a really lovely craft, as he gave me & Nicola a look around the boat last week,.. Nice one Phil, we wish you every success with her mate.
Me and Nicola are off to Cornwall tomorrow for a few days to see how our new 48 foot Catamaran is coming on, well we know it is out of the work shop now and in the boat yard for final finishing off, but there is still a lot of work to do, and I would be fooling myself if I said it would be anything less than another month away…. But we will see tomorrow how much progress has been made???.
Well don’t forget if you want to join us on a fishing trip soon, the give us a call and get one in.
Tight lines…….. Terry & Nic.
