FISHING JULY 2008.. TOPE & HOUNDS!!
Hi guy’s, well here we are again some three weeks from the last report but me and Nic have been flat out on the new boat Cacheflow that we haven’t had a moment to catch up on day to day things like sitting down at the computer to update the old web site.

Any way, the fishing has been excellent and the Tope did turn up this year, not quite in the numbers we would have liked but still enough to say not a bad year for these hard fighting predators, on some days we had as many as 15 fish up to 45lbs and our biggest of the year so far has been a 65lbs female followed ten minutes later with a 47lbs Male the party of mostly novice anglers on board were as you can imagine thrilled to bits, although one of the party GAVIN who tried to help, ran his finger across the Topes mouth and guess what? Yep opened his finger up like an envelope so first aid required but sadly for him I didnt have four pints off negative A for a blood transfusion, so a pint of Carlsberg had to do instead…. You know if Carlsberg did make blood it would probably be the best blood in the world! Tee He, sorry Gav poor joke, but seriously back to the fishing all the boats from our river (the river Blackwater) are doing very well, there has been so much Mackerel around it has been crazy! As many as 20 stone in 20 minutes sometimes, and then off we go to turn some of those into Bass, Thornbacks, and Tope.

Well as many of you know Nicola my partner is just a bout the only lady charter boat skipper fully licensed in the mainland UK, there is Mary in Ireland who is a fantastic lady skipper but Nicola is our number one female in the mainland UK. Well Mike Thrussell from Total Sea Fishing came out with our sponsors last month to do a big feature on the FIRST LADY of fishing (sounds a bit President like) but the day was a great success and some good fish caught and Nicola landing the first and biggest fish of the day, so she can back up what she says about fishing because she can still turn in the goods under pressure, and believe me when you have a big National Magazine on board like TFS and you have to perform all day right from taking a big boat out of the berth getting on the right marks, dropping your pots down for bait for the camera, baiting and tackling up, and catching and landing the fish, while all the time you have a camera in your face and questions being asked, it’s not easy, but Nicola came through with flying colours, and finally with everyone watching, gently back our new 41 foot boat back into her berth. I don’t think we will see the feature until about February 2009 about another six months, and you never know, Mike say’s he got some good photos and she might just make the front cover of the Magazine….. Wow well done Nic! I think our sponsors that were also on board that day were mighty impressed, and as our sponsors now stand as ABU Garcia, Mitchell, Berkley, Fenwick, Shakespeare, Penn, Colman, Red Wolf, all under the watchful eye off our great friends up north in Cheshire, Pure Fishing, who give us such great shore base back up, and unlike some of the other big tackle companies these guy’s actually come down a few times a year and fish out on the boat they sponsor, and bring new products for us to try and also see for them selves how the new equipment handled different conditions so they get a really good understanding of what it is they are selling to you the general public, and I think that is very commendable that even the Managing Director of Pure Fishing Graham Thomas, and his European Category Manager Simon Bradbury, come out along with some off the senior sales team members, so at trade shows they are not just talking about the rods and reels from information they have read in a memo some where, but they have actually tried the gear for themselves and can talk with authority on the products they are selling.

Well we have had some big Bass just lately with fish up to 10.5lbs and many around 5-6lbs I think it must be to do with the Mackerel shoals we have been enjoying and with so much white bait out there it’s just one huge food chain going up and down the Estuary, long may it continue. Well Allen Tomlinson is all trained up now on Cacheflow (our new Interceptor) and will be taking some trips for us in the near future so me and Nicola can have a little holiday as we haven’t had one for nearly two years so you will be in good hands with Allen as I know from the reports from our beloved Vicky Emma, which Allen ran from time to time, that you all thought how great he was, and your right , he is a great skipper, and a real nice person with great people skills so if you are a novice you wont be made to feel silly because you don’t know what you are doing , Allen will spend time with you as we do, and show you the ropes and keep an eye on you all day so you really enjoy your self.

Well the boat is really solid booked at the moment and I must apologise that some of you have tried to book the boat and find you cant get on for months ahead, the way it’s going you will be looking at March next year to find a slot so it you are thinking of booking Cacheflow the number one boat from Bradwell, as I always say ………….. Book early or miss out, and as a friendly warning once Nicolas feature comes out around February next year, the phone will ring off the hook I would bet!!!!!

Catch up soon guy’s ….. Tight lines Terry & Nicola
